This Time by Maniac Garage

This Time by Maniac Garage
listen to it here:

I heard this first from a Spanish speaking woman in her mid or late 40's. And She got this song as her ringtone! At that time, I thought this Maniac Garage is a Colombian or a Spanish local band and I thought it was cool to hear this kind of song from her phone.
I have been hearing this song for almost half a year now, And that was after a few minutes of serious Googling I finally found it!

Well, I never really got the full song. just the 30-second mp3. (and I am starting to believe that this is all there is)

But what's interesting is that I learned that this song was first done by a JPop artist named Makou.

As a consolation I got Makou's version of This Time safely hibernating in my hard drive.
Here is Makou's version:

Lyrics are here: ( i think the lyrics Tia got here needs a minor correction.. lol)

Song Artist: Makou
Song Title: Right Now
Written by: Tia Cheung

Newspapers read undone on the corner of the street
I'll go to memory of the place we left crying
in the day we never like try to make our way
I should have told you and i be u because you had pay it it's mine
I still can hide it it's been here for a while and i can now believe you're here in front of me
cause I can read you

right now not then
I can still remember when I'm working my way back to you boy
I'm really gonna try

right now not then
I can now remember when so I'm working my way back to you boy saving your time
this time this time this time...

now I found you work my ... my shoes i got bless on you
tell me what i'm gonna do

I can read you

right now not then
i can still remember when i'm working my way back to you boy I'm really gonna try

right now not then
i can now remember when so i'm working my way back to you boy saving your time
this time this time this time.......

Google can't help. answer.yahoo.com neither. These guys are virtual unknown.
Makou is a Japanese pop artist, but her song "Right Now" came out in Korea around 4 to 5 years back!

Hey wassup everyone! How's the epic hunt for the "One-Hit-Wonder Turned Into A Ghost-Kind-Of-A-Band" went so far?  When you reaaaaalllllly want to hear something this good and you can't even get or buy the full song to listen to it, it sucks eh? Seems like something out of your control is denying you to hear it! Maybe, just maybe.. If rich records producers hear or see this mini-song on youtube getting a million hits, they will be thrilled to hunt the band for us. What do you think?

Hello Maniac Garage hunters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Those exclamation marks are necessary. lol)

I'd given up all my hopes for searching the (not-so-existing)could be- mp3 of this song.

First, let me state my reasons why I tend to be so certain that there's nothing more to find about them: this band Maniac Garage and their song Right Now.

Its been more than half a decade now (or longer than that and that's what i believe) since the first accounted query  for this band came up. And it is already July 1, 2010,(BTW, LeBron James is a free agent now! Where do you think he'd end up? lol) at this day and age it is really so difficult to be invisible even if they chose to.
Traces of them should have came up by now if they really are for real.
Somebody would have uploaded the whole song on Youtube, or even shared it on limewire already.
Some kick-ass blogger would have already blogged about it.
BUT NONE of those should haves and would haves ever happened.

And as for the 'Right Now' remix that I am planning to create, I will keep it on my  to-do list and will do it when time already permits me.

Peace out people!

I hope so too! :)

I've heard the whole song, but I shudder to say what from. I could crop it out of said context using audacity, I suppose. :P

["crop it out of said context using audacity"]

Coincidentally, I've been thinking of doing the same thing! Though I am afraid it might sound a little bit monotonous. Hmmm. How about a remix!? Haha. Let's try that!

I'm guessing Maniac Garage isn't a real band. Being that the song was a K-Pop hit and LG is a Korean company, they probably just re-recorded the song for western territories with session musicians. This way they have something that comes on the phone to demonstrate that you can use standard songs and the quality of playback of them.

I have this as a ringtone on my used Dare. I thought it was maybe a ringtone that the previous owner had purchased.

The lyrics for the Makou version is wrong. Here is the right one :P
----------------------------------

News, pay, bow and don'ts
on the corner of the street
all goes to memories
of the place we leftin' cry
in the days we never like
and try to make our way
I should have told you then

I see you speaking
behind a painted smile
I'm still in hiding
and I've been here for a while
and I cannot believe your here
in front of me
but I couldn't reach you

Right Now, Not Then
I can still remember when
I'll be working my way back to you boy
I'm really gonna try

Right Now, Not then
I cannot Remember when
So I'm working my way back to you boy
For the sake of you and I
This Time, This Time
This Time, This Time
This Time, This Time

Now that I found you
What malley my should
I've got ask to you
to tell me what am I gonna do

Wrong and Wrong these are the lyrics

Song Artist: Makou
Song Title: Right Now
Written by: Tia Cheung

VERSE:

Newspaper landings on the corner of the street
All goes to memories of the place we laughed and cried
In the days we loved the life and tried to make our way
I should have told you then

I see you speaking behind a pinned smile
I’m still in hiding and I’ve been here for awhile
And I cannot believe you’re here in front of me
But I can reach you

CHORUS:

right now, not then
I can still remember when
I'll be working my way back to you boy
I'm really gonna try

right now, not then
I cannot remember when
so I'm working my way back to you boy
For the sake of you and I

this time ,this time ,this time...
this time ,this time ,this time...

BRIDGE:

Now that I found you
Walk a mile in my shoes
I’ve gotta see you
tell me what am I gonna do?

I can read you

CHORUS:

right now, not then
I can still remember when
I'll be working my way back to you boy
I'm really gonna try

right now, not then
I cannot remember when
so I'm working my way back to you boy
For the sake of you and I

this time ,this time ,this time...
this time ,this time ,this time...

The one above is correct except for this line:

"I see you speaking behind a pinned smile."

It is definately painted smile. But the rest is correct.

heard this song a couple months ago on my cousins phone and hated it at first, but after hearing it over and over after that it got kinda catchy and i actually like it a lot. when i googled it there was nothing to be found except for the thirty second reel. and too bad its only the thirty seconds that everyone is talking about. My cousin has an Lg Rumor 2 and it was a free ringtone. I think said "Maniac Garage" is simply some advertizement ploy for Lg phones that copyrighted and reproduced only that 30 s reel of the Makou version. and if not, then thats too bad because that could have been extremely popular.

ohhh please ... whre i can find this song entirely :X

I too hated that song the first few times. I thought it was kitschy and amateurish. Then I became intrigued by it, specifically by its songstress.

There are two instrumental pieces on my LG in the Sounds file, “Airport” and “Mystique” that I really like. I don’t know who performs them, either.

If you listen to the Makou version, I think it may actually be her voice with out all the techno and splicing. It looks like they just cleaned up the vocals, or had her sing it without digitalizing her voice. Is this a possibility do you think?

You gotta be kidding me. I have that ringtone ever since I purchased my LG cookie KM500 (something like that). I love it! and it brings me so many memories of the time I lived in San Luis Potosi. I was looking for the whole song and ended up here....come on! am I also a victim of LG???? a desperate mexican who wants this song badly :'(

Hi

You can't find this song because it never officially existed. That's why "Maniac Garage" is so impossible to find on the net; they too are imaginary. Let me explain: The song was part of a copyrighted but royalty free and credit free musician song kit (Guess that's why LG included it as a ringtone). These song kits are usually used by musicians, who don't have the money for studio costs, to showcase their work. I discovered the song for the first time in the mentioned song kit and after I had done my version of it, I thought I'd find other versions on the net to see how the quality of myne compared to the rest. That's when I realised the search for "This Time" had been raging on for a long time.

At "This Time" then, I'm glad to announce that I've just released my own licensed version this song. The song doesn't come with chords in the song kit and seeing that before my version was complete, I had not ever heard the ringtone, my version has a different chord arrangement than that of the ringtone. Although it's not exactly the same, it might appeal to many people who like the ringtone since it's got a staggeringly similar feel and it's not as jazzy and seemingly unsynced as the one on YouTube by "Makou" or the so-called "original" version by "Maniac Garage". My version is called (Right Now) This Time (Strangely Re-Plucked Mix) and you can listen to it here:

I think Right Now is the original because I have a game called DJ MAX & it have that song the game came out at 07 in asia & I in-ported it I know the song before I know Maniac Garage that what I think, you can even wiki it & find Right Now on the song list I wiki Maniac Garage got nothing.

by the way, i'm not talking about the final song by Makou or Dj Max 2 portable, or LG, or Maniac Garage...

I'd like to have a look at the song kit that made the song possible...

I can't find the song at all either, and I've googled vigorously(what does that mean?). I've searched EVERYWHERE extremely thoroughly, but all I could find was this cruddy one by a bunch of idiots! I can't get a link, but I'm totally frustrated!

In the Philippines,

they are playing this song in one of the leaading bookstores, NAtional book store. i have heard the full song for more than 5 times alrady, but NOT the Japanese Makou version. it kinda sounds like the maniac garage. When I asked the sales lady, they say that they are unable to tell me for the musics are fed by the main office. its so frustrating! i'm gonna be posting the song once i get my hands on it.

there's a full song, everyone!

The song is in fact a demo in a composer soundpack for which a licence can be purchased at an unknown company; then you can do whatever you want with the instruments and female voice samples. It was released in or before 2005 so it would be really hard to find nowadays.

I asked LG where it comes from and they have no clues... Don't bother sending a email / phone call or online chat request to LG...

More details about this song: From Maxume on youtube
Source: http://hubpages.com/entertainment/Right-Now-This-time-the-artist-is-real

Quote from Maxume (the source) : The track was originally composed and written by 2 guys from the UK under commission from a sound sample production company.

There is no doubt that “Makou” used the exact same vocal samples I did in my production and hence, it's not a female vocalist from Japan who performs it. Take a listen to my track and theirs and compare just the vocals; Apart from the tempo, they are exactly the same. The song creation pack simply names the vocalist as “Sarah”. That doesn't have a Japanese ring to it, now does it?

The license agreement of the song creation pack in question, grants the licensee the right to use the contents in ANY production and it's therefor safe to assume that LG had some session artists perform the song to use as a ring tone. When you go into the nitty-gritty of royalty distribution, the benefits for LG in doing this becomes glaringly obvious. The release date of the song creation pack and the first questions I could find posted about the ring tone also conveniently co-insides. However, this is just an assumption; not a fact.

... Another quote: As you can imagine, the chance of getting your hands on a possible hit track doesn't roll around everyday for an unsigned, independent artist such as myself. As a result, I reserve the right to be vague with specific details. That being said, let's continue:

2017 and this song never gonna found

Unknown said...

2018... 9 years since the creation of this post and 13 years since the song was first found.. at this point it is safe to say that a full version of this masterpiece either doesn't exist or will just never be found.

Anonymous said...

My guess it is something that some musically talented Verizon employees(or their kids) have put together solely for the purpose of the ringtone to avoid licensing the song from Makou.

We might got new lead on it. In the new LG ad for the LG Velvet the person singing the "Favorite Things" sounds remarkably similar to Maniac garage. Listening side by side it sounds like her voice is older. We might be able to find the missing link. Come on gang there's a mystery afoot.

And here we are, again and again

Here https://vgmdb.net/album/33533 the performer for Makou's version is listed as "Vocal Forge". If you Google it, you get this https://zero-g.co.uk/products/vocal-forge which we can safely assume is the source of the vocals.

Once again I'm back to this rabbit hole, which is trying to find more information about the original band/singer, but after that MAXUME interview there's nothing as relevant about this song's origins, unfortunately the song is really lost...

maybe... what if someone buys the voice pack to confirm if the song exists?

It's nearly 4 am in the morning, and I've been scouring for an hour, desperately trying to find a song that was stored in my LG Lollipop. After finally discovering the song title and stumbling upon a 2009 post, I find no sign of the complete track or any information about the artist behind it. Will I ever get the chance to hear the full version?
